Chhau dance is a traditional dance form that originated in the eastern states of India, namely Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. It is a highly expressive and vibrant dance form known for its masked performers, acrobatic movements, and rhythmic footwork. Chhau dance combines elements of dance, martial arts, and theatricality to tell stories from mythology and folklore.
There are three main styles of Chhau dance: Seraikella Chhau, Mayurbhanj Chhau, and Purulia Chhau, each named after the respective regions where they originated. While they share certain similarities, each style has its distinct characteristics and techniques.
