Flamenco Dance
Bio
Flamenco is a passionate and expressive dance form that originated in the Andalusian region of Spain, particularly in the areas of Andalusia, Extremadura, and Murcia. It is closely tied to the rich cultural heritage of the Spanish Roma (Gypsy) communities, known as "gitanos," as well as other cultural influences from the region.
Flamenco dance is characterised by its emotional intensity, intricate footwork, rhythmic hand clapping ("palmas"), percussive foot stamping, guitar music, and heartfelt singing. It is a highly improvisational dance form that allows the dancer, known as a "bailaor" (male) or "bailaora" (female), to express their emotions and tell stories through movement.
